Description flight
After having weighted you to make weight and balance of the helicopter and having
received the initial explanatory briefing, you will proceed to board the helicopter.
We start from our helipad at the Port of Motril towards Beznar Dam to enter into the
Alpujarra through valleys and ravines that descend from the peaks of Sierra Nevada to the
Guadalfeo River Basin. An area of great natural beauty and great contrasts, with fertile
valleys with abundant fruit trees and vineyards, as Trevelez river valley, with small
whitewashed villages such as La Taha or Pitres and large ravines as Poqueira Ravine, where
we will enter (declared historical), and its three unique villages: Pampaneira, Bubion and
Capileira. From there, following the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, we head towards the
impressive monument of La Alhambra, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where you can enjoy
not only the wonderful views of the Alhambra Palace, but the Generalife Gardens and the
Albaicin.
On our way back to the coast we will cross the Lecrin Valley, with its orange and lemon
trees plantations, the Beznar Reservoir, nestled in the Izbor river valley, breathtakingly
beautiful and the Sierra de los Guajares, after which the Guadalfeo river Valley appears,
providing us a spectacular natural monument, Tajo de los Vados Canyon, a river gorge
formed by the Guadalfeo River for millions of years, with cuts of up to 330 ft in which
the helicopter will enter for your enjoyment, becoming in one of the most special moments
of the flight.
From there we head to Salobrena, beautiful whitewashed village with medieval structure
perched atop a massive rock jutting out into the sea and with a picturesque Moorish castle
on the top, a photographer´s dream, to begin a spectacular tour of the coastline,
including Almunecar, the tourist capital of the area and the Punta de la Mona, headland
above the sea, with its beautiful marina and Playa del Muerto and its incredible mansions,
and of course, unusually transparent waters, islets of stone, and a wonderful view of the
bay of La Herradura.
We end by heading back to our helipad, watching the famous and gorgeous subtropical fruit
plantations of Almunecar.
